ROSE SUTHERLAND (published on October 14, 2009)



ROSE SUTHERLAND (nee MIGNACCA) November 14, 1918 October 12, 2009 Peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital, on the morning of October 12, 2009, Rose passed away at the age of 90 years. Rose was predeceased by her husband Bill, her parents Anthony and Lucia, her brother and sister-in-law Mark (Eva) Mignacca, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann (Leo) Masotti, Carmen (Peter) Dercola, Mary (Mike) Scinocca, Frances (Wally) Olien, her nephew Mickie Mignacca, and her niece Lucille Scinocca. Rose was the last of the six Mignacca children. She will be sadly missed by all of her numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends. Rose was born in Winnipeg on November 14, 1918. She attended school at Pinkham and Sir Hugh John MacDonald Schools. Rose had a wonderful and fulfilled life. She worked at Standard Aero Engine for over 40 years and enjoyed it immensely. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League. Rose enjoyed family gatherings and was the life of the party. She loved to sing and dance. Her greatest passion was gardening. She also loved going to the cottage and playing cards. Rose looked forward to her yearly trips with her sisters visiting Las Vegas, Scottsdale and Florida. Towards the latter years of her life, she was a loving caregiver to her sisters and brother. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Viewing will be held 30 minutes prior to mass. Entombment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at The Rosewood (Cedar House) and the Victoria Hospital (4 South) for their tender care and support.
