MARGARET WINNIFRED MCLEOD (published on October 24, 2009)

MARGARET WINNIFRED (PEGGY) McLEOD Born in Swan River, MB, January 28, 1913, Peggy passed away on October 22, 2009. For six years, she taught school near Stockholm, SK, and at Rabbit Lake, SK. Peggy then returned to Winnipeg and turned her attentions to accounting and was ultimately employed by United Grain Growers. She later transferred to their Public Press division occupying the position of Assistant Accountant until retirement in 1977 after 35 years of service. Peggy thoroughly enjoyed golfing and taking university extension courses which included travel to Europe. She was predeceased by her siblings: Tommy in Regina, SK, Neil in Victoria, BC, and Marion (Wells) in Langley, BC. Her family were her nephews and nieces and their families: Brydon McLeod in Calgary; Neil McLeod and Judy Ackroyd in Victoria; Janet Phillips in Moose Jaw, SK; Margaret Goyette in Vernon, BC; Glen (deceased) and Bryan Wells in Langley, BC. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Peggy was admired for her courage over many years of health problems. A heartfelt thank you is extended to her health care support workers over the past years, especially the staff at Lions Manor in Winnipeg. There will be a private family graveside service for Peggy at a future date. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu, donations may be made to The Broadway Disciples United Church in Winnipeg.
