EVA NOVOTNY (published on October 24, 2009)

EVA NOVOTNY Quietly and very peacefully, surrounded by her family, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 88 years on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Mom was predeceased by her husband Hank in 1995; her daughter Eleanor; her sons-in-law, Wally and Peter, and her grandson Bruce. She is survived by her six children, Frank (Joy), Gladys, James (Judie), Henry (Judy), Ron (Pearl), and Evy (Mark); her sister Phyllis, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was born on March 21, 1921. With Dad, they raised their family on the farm in St. Germain. Mom was a homemaker all of her life. Her ability to cook, sew, knit and crochet was exemplary. She enjoyed gardening and growing her flowers. In later years, Mom spent 13 winters in Phoenix. She very much enjoyed knitting for various charities. Following Dad's death, Mom moved to St. Vital. As her health declined, she moved to the Rosewood but was active and bright to the end. The family extends their thanks to Dr. Werier and nurse Delane, Mary Ann and Bronca at the Rosewood, and the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care for Mom over the years. A private family memorial service and interment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Eva's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3. Rest in peace, Mom; we love you. LECLAIRE BOTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
