FREDERICK OSTE Frederick passed away peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, October 15, 2009, to join his beloved wife Mae who predeceased him on October 29, 1995. Frederick was born on November 25th, 1920. After finishing his schooling he worked for the Hudson Bay Store until the start of the Second World War when he served on both Canadian coasts and overseas. Shortly after his discharge, he joined the Winnipeg Fire Department on May 1, 1946. After working for 39 and one-half years and reaching the ranks of Lieutenant Captain and District Chief, he retired in April 1985. Frederick was a long time member of St. Nicholas Church, Men's Club, Bingo and Seniors Club. In later years, he enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage at Vince Leah Recreation Centre. He leaves to mourn his son Jim (Debbie); grandsons Michael (Cecilee), Matthew and Mark, as well as three great-grandchildren, Cadence, Maeson, and Keegan. He is survived by his sister-in-law Jeanette; brothers-in-law Peter (Tilly) and Bill (Krystyna) Kwasny; niece Margaret (John) Synyshyn; nephew Gregg (Geraldine) Kwasny and great nieces and nephews, Melissa, Kevin, Steven, Andrew (Ashley), Joan, Violet, Maureen and Bernard. Frederick was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Barbara; brothers, Bernard and Mike; sisters Mary, Jean, and Kay and sisters-in-law Virginia Ham, Violet and Sybil Ost.
