SIGNE LINNEA JONSSON (published on December 15, 2009)

SIGNE LINNEA JONSSON With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt and friend Signe Jonsson at Health Sciences Centre on December 10, 2009. Born in Winnipeg December 4, 1917 she was 92 years young. Although never married Signe will be dearly remembered by all her family and friends. Surviving members are nieces Karen (Robin), Linnea (Walter), Linda (Garry) and nephews Edward (Jacqueline), Wayne (Sherry), Bob (Shanlee), Brian (Nancy) and Gary. Many great-nieces and nephews and their families will cherish the memory of their Aunty Signe. Our Aunt was predeceased by her parents Magnus and Hilma and siblings Eric (Ethel), Lilly (Bert), Bertil (Bea), nieces Patricia and Beverly and nephew Ron. Signe being very independent enjoyed travelling and often rode the bus to visit friends and family throughout Canada and the U.S. She loved the holiday time spent in Europe and especially the homeland of Sweden. The history of the Jonsson family is one of her treasured possessions. Her longtime employment with Eatons opened doors to many friends and activities. Bowling became an integral part of her social time and Signe could bowl your socks off. Growing up playing cards in the Jonsson household, Signe was a very sharp player in any game she was involved. Also a scrabble board was never far away. A gathering to honour Signe's memory will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17 at Lions Place Auditorium, 610 Portage Avenue. Please come and join us to rejoice in her life. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in our Aunt's name to a worthy cause of your choice. Rest in Peace Aunt Signe.
