GORDON IVAN STEWART CAIL (published on December 16, 2009)



GORDON IVAN STEWART CAIL Peacefully, with family at his side, on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Brandon General Hospital, Gordon Ivan Stewart Cail of Portage la Prairie, beloved husband of Edna Cail passed away at the age on 75 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Ronald Moffit officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Columbarium. Gordon was born on June 28, 1934 to Murray and Verna Cail in Portage where he was raised and received his education. Upon completing school he began his career of 40 years with Safeway, many of those as produce manager. Upon his retirement, he joined the part time staff with the Omega Funeral Home, driving the Limo and helping to serve with funeral lunches. He always enjoyed this as he was able to talk to his many friends and have conversations with all in attendance. He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion and A.N.A.F., a member of the Portage Gun Club and Ducks Unlimited. Gord had many hobbies and interests. Predeceased by his parents, and sister Marlene, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Edna of Portage la Prairie, daughters Debra of Port Orange, Florida, Sheila, Sandra, Sharon, Shelly (Vince), four grandchildren Shauna, Sean, Sherry and Ryan (Susie), four great-grandchildren Lisa, Lucas, Korbin and Jackson. Also surviving is his sister Sherrill (Jack) of Spruce Grove, Alberta and several nieces and nephews. Gordon will be sadly missed by his many, many friends and his special friends Lorrie Cool, Gerry Woodward, Stan Androwski and Bernie Larson. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Thursday evening December 17 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Gordon's name to Ducks Unlimited Canada, 545 Conservation Drive, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7L8.
