ISAAC D. DERKSEN (published on December 18, 2009)

ISAAC D. DERKSEN September 13, 1922 - December 14, 2009 With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather on December 14, 2009. He passed peacefully with his family at his side. He was 87 years of age. Dad was predeceased by his wife Eva (Thiessen) in 1979. He is survived by his children, Gordon (Judy), Diane, Ron (Linda), Lorna (Al), Gary (Anita), Bradley (Nancy) as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, David, Mary, Susan, Agnes, Bill and Olga. Dad was born in Bergfeld, Manitoba where he and most of his siblings were born and raised in a barn-house combination, on the family farm. He eventually settled in the city where he became a General Contractor. Dad built many homes in and around the city of Winnipeg. Later in life he obtained his Power Engineering Certificate and finished his career as Chief Engineer of the James Richardson Building. He had many hobbies and interests including woodworking, fishing and travelling but most of all he loved his music and was an accomplished musician. Dad was a loving father and provided his family with many happy memories. The family wishes to thank the staff of River Park Gardens for their care and compassion. Flowers gratefully declined. If you wish donations may be made to The Alzheimers' Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery on Saturday December 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery 1 Green Acres Lane, Springfield (204) 222-3241 Hwy #1 East inside the Perimeter at Winnipeg Condolences may be sent to: www.greenacresmemorial.com
