ELEANOR M. MOERMAN (published on December 19, 2009)

ELEANOR M. MOERMAN Peacefully on December 1, 2009, at the Grace Hospital, in the loving arms of her husband Jerry and daughter Sandy. Mom was born in Ponoka, AB, June 30, 1921, thus beginning the life journey of this remarkable woman. A loving wife and mother who always made a wonderful home no matter where we were, home was where we hung our hats; we were racetrackers. That life kept us on the move from one racetrack to the next, finally making California home and where Mom and Dad raced horses until my Dad retired in 1996. Mom's happiest days were working alongside Dad at the barn. Health concerns brought my parents back to Canada, eventually settling in Winnipeg to be with their daughter. Mom is survived by the love of her life her husband Jerry, daughter Sandy, beloved son Dave McDonald, special son Barry Purdy, grandsons, Gerry Dimma of Georgia, Ken and David James of Calgary, Kurt Moerman of Vancouver, and their families, her brother Jim of Port Alberni, numerous nieces, nephews, and many other special relatives and friends. Mom was predeceased by her two sons, Ken and David, brothers Hugh and Mike, sister Doris and granddaughter Lori. Mom loved to be teased, loved verbal sparring, baseball (her California Angels), golfing, fishing, swimming (so graceful), riding the waves on a body board, dancing (how she loved to dance!), music and singing, playing cards, the slots, especially in Reno, and more quietly, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She loved flowers and gardening, and keeping our shedrow at the barn looking award winning. A woman with a huge laugh and a huge heart. She loved and she was loved. At Mom's request, there will be no service and immediate cremation has taken place. My Dad and I want to thank the staff on the fifth floor at the Grace, for their care and compassion. You are in heaven now Mom, you can see and hear again, your heart will feel no pain. We love and miss you with all our hearts.
