GIUSEPPINA CARMELA MORACA (published on December 24, 2009)

GIUSEPPINA CARMELA MORACA (nee SACCO) Peacefully in her sleep, on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, Carmela was called to the Heavenly Father. Carmela will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years Matteo Moraca, her daughters: Maria Manfredi (Antonio) and Felicia Venusio (Luciano). She will also be missed by her precious grand-children: Angela Pellegrino (Domenico), Giuseppina Cotroneo (Frank), Anna Cotroneo (Rob), Carmela Cianflone (Antonio), and Michele. Along with her great grandchildren: Antonio, Dante, Angelina, Isabella, Giorgio, Antonio, Angelina, Felicia and Gino. Carmela also leaves to mourn her brothers Giuseppe Sacco, Domenico Sacco (Maria), Battista Sacco, her sisters Ida Costanzo (Luigi), Antonietta Frasca, and sister-in-law Teresina Sacco, along with numerous nephews and nieces. Carmela was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Richetta, and stepmother Rosa, her brothers Domenico Sacco, Luigino Sacco, sisters-in-law Elisa Sacco, Domenica Sacco and Domenica Ferlaino, brother-in-law Giovanni Frasca, Gaspare Ferlaino, and nephew Antonio Costanzo. Carmela was born in S. Mango d'Aquino, Catanzaro, Italy on January 7, 1924. She grew up in a small town during the depression; being the eldest of 11 siblings she embraced the role of raising her younger brothers and sisters. In 1949, she married her soul mate Matteo and together they raised their daughters. In April 1967, in search of a better life, they made the decision to immigrate to Canada. Carmela devoted her life to raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a caring homemaker and her heart smiled when she had her family and friends around her, as she watched them enjoy her homemade bread, pasta sauce, and other traditional Sammanghese specialties. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and to the Blessed Virgin Mary and would be found reciting the rosary several times a day. The family would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the doctors and nurses from the 4th and 5th floor of the Victoria General Hospital for their professional and compassionate care. As well, the family extends their gratitude to the many homecare workers who helped care for her. A special thank you to our many relatives and friends for their overwhelming affection and support. Many thanks to Father Sam Argenziano for his visits and blessings. Pallbearers will be Domenico Pellegrino, Frank Cotroneo, Rob Cotroneo, Antonio Cianflone, Michele Venusio, and Antonio Sacco. Viewing will be held Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 12:00 p.m., at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Entombment to follow at the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carmela can be sent to Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0E1, or the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy. God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered come with Me. Golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best. We Love you and will miss you always.
