STELLA LEE (nee SPAKOWSKI) November 4, 1928 - December 21, 2009 Suddenly after a brief illness Stella passed away at Victoria Hospital with her family by her side. Stella was predeceased by her husband, Goodwin in 1993 and grandson Anthony in 2000. She is survived by her youngest brother Bernie and leaves to mourn her two daughters: Donna McLaughlin, grandchildren: Cindy (Rob), John (Jamey) and Jarett; and Sharon McPhee, grandson Michael (Carissa) as well as three great-grandsons that she adored - Braedon, Nicholas and Riley. Stella was the second youngest child in a family of 11 children born to Marcella and Joseph Spakowski of Winnipeg Beach. Mom moved to Winnipeg at a young age and worked at Eaton's. Later she was employed at Perth's Cleaners where she met and married Goodwin (Goodie) Dennis Lee, her husband of 45 years. She retired from The Bay after a number of years. Mom enjoyed many hobbies such as knitting, crocheting and sewing. She made us many dance costumes. She enjoyed cooking and her vinatarta was a favourite. She experimented with new recipes even in recent years. She travelled to Africa, China, Mexico, Hawaii and many parts of the United States. Mom took up bridge in her retirement years and was a member of Fort Garry and Tuxedo Bridge Clubs as well as McBeth House. Her pet cats were also special to her. Our Mom was strong willed and a fighter even to the point of being stubborn sometimes, but we all loved her and she will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street, with viewing one half hour prior to the service.
