LUCILLE MARIE MONIAS (published on December 30, 2009)

LUCILLE MARIE MONIAS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and special friend. Lucille Marie Monias (Lucy) left us on Boxing Day, Saturday, December 26, 2009 at St. Boniface Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was 68 years of age. Lucy was predeceased by her father John, mother Mary Jane, six brothers Robert, Sam, Francis, Ernest, Roy and William, sister Jacinta and one niece Sheena, one daughter Sylvia who passed away on December 12, 2009. She will be lovingly remembered by her special long-time friend and partner Ken; her children James, Cheryl (Al) and Darin (Maxine); her grandchildren, Shannon, Tara, Lucille, Alaina, Allan, Melissa and Kelly; her great grandchildren Chanel, Selena, Samantha, Charmaine, Alysha, Angel, Randy, Dakota, Freedom, Kendrick, and her special ones Emily and Noah; her two brothers Luke and John; sisters Mary, Rita, Evelyn and Josephine, and numerous other family members and friends. Lucille attended Residential Schools in Fort Alex, and on Academy Road in Winnipeg. For several years she worked for the Medical Services, and later on for the City Social Services. She finished her working career being employed by the Aboriginal Services at St. Boniface Hospital. Lucy was a kind and gentle soul and would always help those in need when she could. We have lost a beautiful flower who bloomed so brightly and at last has found peace and eternal rest and soon will be blooming even brighter in a better place. Wake service will be held at Kateri Church at 794 Ellice Ave. on Wednesday, December 30 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral will follow on December 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Kateri Church. Prairieland Aboriginal Funeral Directors in charge.
