JESSIE KASKOW (published on January 04, 2010)

JESSIE KASKOW Peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2009, with her family by her side, Jessie passed away at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by her parents Dora and Stephen Habuza, sisters Anne Sappington and Anita Leiper, and brothers-in-law George Dowhy, Al Bayko and Adrien Sourisseau. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 56 years, Eddie, son Glenn and daughter-in-law Darlene. She also leaves behind her sister Vickie Dowhy, brother-in-law Joe (Linda) Kaskow, sisters-in-law Gladys Sourisseau and Stella Bayko, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jessie grew up and attended school in West Kildonan. She met the love of her life, Eddie, in 1950 and was wed on July 4, 1953. They built their home in East Kildonan in 1956 and resided there her entire life. Her pride and joy, Glenn, was born in 1959. In 1965 she survived breast cancer and went on to enjoy a very full life. She was a hard worker and worked for the Sterling Stall Group for 45 years, retiring in 1994. In July of 1988 she gained the daughter she always wanted when Glenn married Darlene. She was passionate about gardening, spending many hours taking care of her flowers. Jessie was meticulous in her appearance and had a great sense of style. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook and sew. Her family always looked forward to her fabulous Christmas baking. Mom was also well known for how she enjoyed a good cup of coffee. She had many fond memories of trips to Clear Lake, going to Grand Beach and the Whiteshell for picnics, and traveling with her family to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, and California. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the first responders, paramedics and ER staff at the Concordia Hospital for the compassionate care they demonstrated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2 or to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, 304- 1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4C6. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home (455 Lagimodiere Blvd.). GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
