ROBERT ALEXANDER BONNER (published on January 05, 2010)

ROBERT ALEXANDER BONNER It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Robert Alexander Bonner (Bob) on January 2, 2010 at Tuxedo Villa Care Home, following a lengthy illness. Bob was born at Roland, Manitoba on April 1, 1917. Bob is predeceased by his parents, Sandy and Nellie Bonner, brothers David and Donald, and brother-in-law Kenneth Campbell. Survived by brother Ivan (Margaret), sisters Dora Bonner and Joyce Campbell and sister-in-law Eva Bonner, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Bob grew up on the family farm at Roland. He was keenly interested in all farming projects and participated in community activities. Bob had a life-long love of and kindness to animals particularly dogs and horses. When the family farm was sold in 1945 Bob began working for Manitoba Hydro throughout Manitoba and later in Winnipeg until his retirement in 1982. Take a night air flight and you will see the lights shining in numerous rural areas of Manitoba where Bob and his fellow workers, labouring under all outdoor conditions, had a role in bringing electricity to these areas. In retirement years Bob took pleasure in reminiscences of farming and rural life experiences and acquaintances. The family expresses appreciation of the excellent care Bob received at Thorvaldson's Care Centre and Tuxedo Villa Extendicare. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9, Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, 525 Wardlaw Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0L9, or to a charity of one's choice.
