LYDIA KRCADINAC (published on January 05, 2010)

LYDIA KRCADINAC (nee GREIS) May 29, 1922 - January 1, 2010 It is with deep sadness that the family of Lydia Krcadinac announces the passing of our beloved Mom Omie , at the Riverview Palliative Care Unit. Mom was born in Zyrardow, Poland to Reimund Julius and Anna Olga Greis (nee Keber), and lived there until the Second World War took her to Germany, where she met our Dad Opie . They were married in 1948 and in 1950 immigrated to Canada. They lived in Rosenort and St. Norbert and finally settled in Fort Whyte, where Mom lived until her hospitalization in October, 2009. She had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with us all. She always had a quick smile, a quiet sense of humour, kind support and fairness to all. She took every opportunity to go out for any occasion. Mom spent the summers in her garden, tending to her vegetables and flowers. She was an amazing homemaker, cook and baker and her meals are still legendary to those who were lucky enough to enjoy them. She also enjoyed spending her time sewing, crocheting, embroidering, doing puzzles. Mom loved the outdoors, picnics in the park and had a great love of animals. In her later years, she enjoyed regularly going to Bingo and trying to win The BIG ONE on lotteries and VLTs. Mom will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Mara (John) Brenan, Vera Krcadinac (Albert) Hajes, Alica (Ron) Porter, Richard (Mona) Krcadinac; her grandchildren: Tim (Carla) Brenan, children, Tessa and Liam; Suzanne (Garth) Blagden, children, Christopher, Nicholas and Madison; Christie Brenan; Sarah Hajes (Devin) Rowland son William; Joshua, Zachary, Katrina, Brittany, Natasha, Ashley Krcadinac. She was predeceased by her husband Ziva in 1981, her sisters: Olga Alksne, Else, Klara and brothers: Richard and Heinrich. We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible staff on 3E at Riverview Health Care Centre, who befriended Mom and took such compassionate care of her during her last month of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Care Centre, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3L 2P4. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Ziva. If we could have one lifetime wish One dream that could come true We'd pray to God with all our hearts For yesterday and you. We love you Mom and Omie THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to
