EVA KOWAL (published on January 06, 2010)



EVA KOWAL (nee MICHALCZUK) It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Eva Kowal, 90 years, on January 2, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital. Our mother Eva will be missed and always remembered with great love and affection by her sons Don, Bob, and daughter Janice; daughters-in-law Susan and Doreen; and grandchildren Jaime, Ainsley, Tyler, and Trevor. Eva is survived by her sister Ann Hans and sisters-in-law Alice Michalczuk and Anne Scott as well as, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John (80 years in 1996), her parents, brothers Bill, Russell and sister Mary. Eva was born in Winnipeg, raised in Fort Rouge, and married John in 1942. She was a devoted home-maker, a fabulous cook, loved to garden, and had a special talent to win at bingo. Eva was a loving mother, grandmother, and delightful friend to many. Eva had many special friendships throughout her life including those made during her three years at Thorvaldson Care Centre. She was a devoted lifelong member of the Holy Family Parish, member of the Ladies Auxillary and Seniors Group. The family wants to give special thanks for the care and support she received from Thorvaldson's, Dr. Konrad, and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 1001 Grant Avenue with Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel. Interment will follow at Thomson In the Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (Manitoba Division), 1 - 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3Y 1G4.
