RAEBURN SCOTT GILES April 25, 1943 - January 4, 2010 Peacefully with family and friends by his side Dad passed away on January 4, 2010 at the Selkirk District General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his parents Roy and Margaret Giles and his wife of 35 years Sheila. He is survived by his children Brent (Alexis) and grandchildren Cory and Nathan, Lisa (Ernie) Haak and grandchildren Melissa and Aaron, Chris (Jean) and grandchildren Jacob, Kimberly and Sarah. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Bonnie (Lloyd) Pritchard and Sue (Ken) Kirkland as well as brother-in-law Allen (Mona) DeVisser, sisters-in-law Heather Innes and Joyce DeVisser as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Central Patricia, Ontario but grew up in Birds Hill, Manitoba. He worked on the floodway in the early 60s before beginning his lengthy career in the trucking industry. Dad also built the family's log home in East Selkirk in 1979. Him and Mom hand picked each log and peeled them. He loved to fish and spent many a day on the lake. Dad was also a long time member of Grace Baptist Church where he remained an active member until his illness no longer allowed him his mobility. Special thanks to Dr. Demsas and the staff at Selkirk District General Hospital for their wonderful care of Dad and their support to us during this difficult time. Also thanks to the staff at Betel Home for their great care and help in transitioning Dad into his new home and way of life. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk. Interment will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
