| FATHER TERENCE WALSH Father Terence Walsh, S.J. (Jesuit), died peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Rouge River Hospital, Ajax-Pickering. Fr. Walsh was in his 80th year of life and his 58th year of Religious Life. Fr. Terry was born on June 29, 1930 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Son of the late Terence G. Walsh and Irene M. Wolfe. Fr. Terry entered the Jesuit Novitiate in Guelph, Ontario in August 1952. Fr. Terry taught in Halifax at St. Mary's University High School from 1959 to 1961. He was ordained a priest in Toronto in 1964 after graduate studies in Philosophy at the University of Toronto, then moving to Guelph as Director of Studies for the Jesuit students and the Superior of the Community. In 1972 he was appointed Provincial Superior of the Jesuits in English Canada for a six year term. Fr. Terry was instrumental in moving Regis College from Willowdale to be near to the Toronto School of Theology and the University of Toronto. His main years of ministry after that time were as a Jesuit Community pastor and administrator. He served in Winnipeg as pastor and superior of St. John de Brebeuf (1980 to 1982), and from (1982 to 1987), he was pastor and superior of the Jesuit Community at Our Lady of Lourdes, Toronto; Rector of Regis College Jesuit Community in Toronto (1987 to 1995) and a religious superior and pastoral associate in Halifax, Nova Scotia (1995 to 2004). He was called upon to co-ordinate the First Studies program for younger Jesuits. More recently, he served as an associate Pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes. In declining energy, Fr. Terry moved to Pickering in 2009 to continue in a more personal way his ministry of service and prayer. He will be sadly missed by his colleagues and family. Friends may call at St. Ignatius Chapel, Manresa Spiritual Renewal Centre, 2325 Liverpool Road North, Pickering, Ontario on Friday, January 8 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home and Chapel, 467 Sherbourne Street, Toronto (south of Wellesley) on Saturday and Sunday, January 9 and 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There will be a wake service and prayers at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church (Sherbourne and Earl Streets) on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Burial in the Jesuit Cemetery, Guelph at 2:30 p.m. In memory of Fr.
