GEORGE CHARLES DAVIDSON (published on January 09, 2010)

GEORGE CHARLES DAVIDSON September 3, 1930 January 4, 2010 Peacefully, with family at his bedside, George passed away at the age of 79 years. George was predeceased by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Rita, son Doug Ritchot (Jody Black), grandchildren Jill and Dane, brothers Keith, John (Roberta), Don (Darlene), special nephew Brent, sister-in-law Florence, brother-in-law Larry, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces. George grew up on the family farm in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. He did a year of university at Queens and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelors degree in Science. He received the Governor General's medal in 1949 for the highest marks in grade 12. His career was head chemist for the Edible Oils Division at Canada Packers. George loved to travel and explore. He traced his family roots in Scotland, rode the Orient Express in China, went down-under in Australia and New Zealand, and even travelled as far away as Russia. George was also an avid reader dedicating an entire room to his library of books. In the warmer months, he could spend hours puttering in his garden. We are grateful to the ER and ICU doctors and nurses, especially ICU nurse Kim E. and all of the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital who cared for George with such kindness. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish may make a donation to The Heart Stroke Foundation. We invite family and friends to a celebration of George's life to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Green Acres Funeral Home. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery 1 Green Acres Lane, Springfield (204) 222-3241 Hwy #1 East inside the Perimeter at Winnipeg Condolences may be sent to: www.greenacresmemorial.com
