WILLIAM ROLAND DUNN (published on January 09, 2010)

WILLIAM ROLAND DUNN February 24, 1925 - December 30, 2009 After a brief illness, Bill passed away on December 30, 2009. He was predeceased by his parents Grace and Jack and his wife Elizabeth. He is survived by his three daughters - Lorraine Dunn, Katherine Fifer (Richard), Eleanor Kotelniski (Allan) and eight grand-children - Ken, Sandra, and Kim Dunn, Melanie Reimer, Marcia, Valerie and Jason Fifer, Matthew McMahon, as well as nine great- grandchildren and his sister Pat Francis. Bill enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in the Second World War at age 18, and spent a year overseas. Upon returning, he attended McGill University, graduating with a B.Sc. in Chemistry. In 1949 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth. Bill was a spontaneous and adventurous man, whose passions took him many places. He was devoted to lifelong learning, and especially loved history, languages and music. His skills took him from the deepest depths, working in the gold mines, to the highest heights, as part of the Avro Arrow team. Bill was a selfless man who was eager to help those in need. His volunteer efforts included environmental disaster response in Alaska and North Dakota. As well, Bill was a volunteer with the Pan Am Games, the Christmas Cheer Board and his church. Bill enriched his grandchildren's lives with season tickets to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Symphony, Rainbow Stage, and even a trip to Disneyland. His love of life and family will always be remembered, and we will always be thankful for the unconditional love he gave us all. A private service for the family was held at St. Stephen's Anglican Church on Monday, January 4, 2010. The family would like to thank The Rev. Diane K. Guilford. Online condolences can be made at In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any children's charity.
