MARY LENA ESKRA (nee MUTIS) September 21, 1936 - January 4, 2010 Mary Lena Eskra, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away suddenly on January 4, 2010. She was born in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan on September 21, 1936, the youngest daughter of Abraham and Clementine Mutis. She attended grade school in Belle Plaine and high school in Moose Jaw at the Academy of Our Lady of Sion. She met her future husband Kass in Moose Jaw where she was employed at People's Credit Jewellers and he was employed at Bata Shoes. The married in 1956 and lived in Moose Jaw until he was transferred to Winnipeg. Mom worked part-time evenings at McLeod's and then worked full-time for the Bank of Montreal for 17 years until her retirement. After a year of retirement, she decided to work part-time at the Winnipeg Airport at Relay behind U.S. Security. She loved her job and the people she worked with and made many friends there. Mom loved to read and garden. She also loved to cook, especially for her family where she would always try a variety of different recipes. There would always be something new at the dinner table each Christmas or Easter. Mom was a very friendly, kind and loving person who will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Her family meant the world to her and she cherished her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Kass; daughter Kelly (Dan) and their children, Nicholas and Hannah; son Timothy; and daughter Leslie. She was predeceased be her parents, Abraham and Clementine Mutis and her brother George Mutis. She is survived by her brother Angelo Mutis of Vancouver and her sister Alice Boehm of Mandan, North Dakota. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial for family will be held at a later date. Flowers and gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Siloam Mission or the John Buhler Cancer Centre at the Victoria General Hospital.
