FRANCIS (FRANK) SUTHERLAND ADAMS February 2, 1924 - January 3, 2010 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Frank Adams, at the Concordia Hospital, after a lengthy fight with Cancer on January 3, 2010. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Virginia of 60 years; daughters Helena (Ken) Zolinski of Nanaimo, BC, and Janette (Darrell) Vercammen of Millarville, Alberta; sister Dorothy (Alan) Heath of Salt Spring Island, BC; brother-in-law Frank Donly; sister-in-law Lillian (Graham) Jordan; niece Cheryl (Brian); nephews David and Stephen Adams and Craig (Julie) Simpson and many relatives in England. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Irma Melissa Adams; sisters Lillian and Helen and brothers Bill, John, Stephen, Arthur and Ernie. Frank was born on Martin Avenue in Elmwood and lived most of his life in Winnipeg. In 1941 he joined the army with his brothers John and Stephen. He entered in the R.C.A. 2nd Division Anti-Tank, serving in France, Belgium, Germany and in the liberation of the Netherlands. He returned to Haney, BC where he set up a cabinet shop, later returning to Winnipeg. He married Virginia Donly on March 25, 1949 and they enjoyed 60 years together. Frank worked for Canada Metal and for several years at Canada Post. Later he worked with Stevens Son Medical Co. for 14 years retiring in 1986. The family spent their retirement travelling. Frank enjoyed bowling with the Golden Age Club and was a member of the EKE Elmwood Seniors Club, where he played darts. Frank was a very kind, gentle and thoughtful man; a loving husband and a wonderful father to his daughters. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Following a brief reception, interment of his ashes will be in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. God bless you dad.
