KAY HRYNCHUK (published on January 12, 2010)

KAY HRYNCHUK May 5, 1926 - January 7, 2010 In the early morning hours of Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the age of 83 years, Mom left us to join the other loves of her life. She leaves behind her children Sharon Burrows (Dennis), Stephen (Jan), Barbara (Dan), her brother George, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, adopted children and friends. Mom was born in Glencairn, Manitoba, the second youngest child of Andrew and Helen Saniuk. Her youngest sister Eileen was very special to her. Over the years Mom held a variety of jobs and was always ready to volunteer. But first and foremost, Mom was devoted to her family and always wanted the best for her children. She taught us old fashioned values and responsibility. She dealt with what life handed her and got on with it. After her first marriage she met Morris, the love of her life. They spent many wonderful years together in Bissett, Manitoba. After he passed on, Mom moved to Winnipeg. At the age of 78 she discovered the joys of manicures, her women's group and even how to use a bank card. Mom's Ukrainian culture was very much a part of her life. She loved cooking and baking and could always be found in her kitchen whipping up something. Anything she had she would share, especially with Bud and Zoe. Her generosity meant no one ever left her home hungry or without her special care package. Mom's great capacity for love attracted many people. She was a very honest woman. People always knew where they stood with her. But most of all, Mom was a very gentle and loving soul. On Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. Kay's Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Donations in Kay's memory may be made to the Salvation Army SonRise Village Family Shelter, 180 Henry Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B0J8 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3. Mom, we will always love and miss you.
