ANNE GILBERT (published on January 15, 2010)

ANNE GILBERT (nee Schmidt) Anne Gilbert, age 92, passed away January 10, 2010. Born in Gretna, Manitoba she later moved to Winnipeg and was employed at Canada Packers for many years. She married More Buster Gilbert in 1954 and resided in Domain Manitoba. She took an active part in the community life and also became a lifetime member of the Legion Auxiliary Branch No. 208. Years later they took up residency in Winnipeg where Anne was employed at Red River College. After the death of Buster in 2003, she was a resident at the Tuxedo Villa in Winnipeg. Anne in her quiet way was a true friend and companion to Buster. They enjoyed travelling to see Canada to visit friends and family and especially fishing whenever the chance occurred. She was predeceased by her husband, Bud and her brothers and sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory her stepdaughter Ruby (Norm) LeBlanc and their children Ronald (Jennifer) and Shawna (Jeff) Paulsen; seven great-grandchildren, her good friend and sister-in-law Florence, brothers-in-law Clarence (Wilma) and Alex and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. The family wishes to invite you to a reception immediately following the celebration of life ceremony at Chapel Lawn.
