LLOYD MELVILLE ROBERTSON (published on January 16, 2010)

LLOYD MELVILLE ROBERTSON It is with heavy hearts and deepest sorrow we announce that Lloyd Robertson of Marquette, MB passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Stonewall Hospital with his loving wife at his side, at the age of 83 years. Remaining to forever cherish Lloyd's memory are his wife Mary Ann; daughter Melanie (Shawn); son Lorne; grandchildren, Trenton, Travis and Macy; mother-in-law Vera Broadfoot; brother-in-law Scott (Muriel); sister-in-law Carolyn (Bill); nephew Daryl; nieces, Darlene, Tiffany, Chalsee, Chantal and Michelle and their respective families; as well as many cousins, neighbours, friends and spiritual brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Elizabeth; siblings, Barbara, Douglas, Elmer and Evelyn. Lloyd was born March 10, 1926 on the family farm in Marquette, where he resided for his entire 83 years. Because of his thirst for knowledge, he attended pre-medical school, Radio College in Toronto; and also obtained his teaching certificate. After a short while, Lloyd decided that teaching was not for him, so he became a transport driver with Security Storage and then decided to raise Hereford cattle. In addition, to shorten the nights while driving transport, he studied The Field of Electricity under the direction of the British Institute of Engineering Technology and received his electrical license. He enjoyed working for many years in the community as a Journeyman Electrician. He also used his vocation to volunteer his time to build Kingdom Halls in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Lloyd was fond of the scripture at Job 14:14, 15 which describes the need to fulfill our compulsory service in the grave until we receive the gift of everlasting life (Romans 6:23). As one of Jehovah's Witnesses he had confidence in the resurrection hope, which he happily shared with others. Lloyd's optimistic outlook on life and his mild caring personality endeared him to many. This was evident by the many visitors he received at home and at the Stonewall Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Meadow Lea Hall located at the corner of Highway #248 and #227, near Marquette with Martin Conn officiating. We would like to thank the Stonewall Hospital staff, homecare workers and homecare nurse for their excellent care and kindness. Flowers are gratefully declined.
