| SIGURDUR SIGURDSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing our beloved Uncle Siggi, on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Arborg Personal Care Home, at the age of 94 years. Siggi was born on July 24, 1915 to Fridfinnur and Oddney Sigurdson. Siggi was named Sigurdur Fridfinnson for his grandfather in Fagradal. He worked the home farm at Vatnsendi with his father. They then moved the house to the Melstadir Farm and built a big new barn there. After his father's death in 1948 Siggi continued the farming operation until he retired fully in 1999. After his stroke and subsequent recovery he continued to take an avid interest in the farm. He was always a steady worker, good farmer and kind neighbour. Highlights of his life included a trip to Niagara Falls with his niece Nony and her husband Dave. Another highlight was his first plane trip and trip to Calgary with his niece Irene. He enjoyed the gondola lift up the mountain in Banff and going up the Calgary Tower. Siggi was an avid sports fan enjoying baseball and hockey. Siggi was predeceased by his parents Fridfinnur and Oddney; brother Jon; step-brother Marshall; sister Kristrun and husband Sigurdur; sister Bjorg and husband Arni. He was also predeceased by his nephew Wilfred Borgfjord, and great-nephew Scott Johannson. He is survived by his extended family of nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law Edith Jonson. We will miss him. Special thanks to his girls the homecare workers and all the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for their excellent care. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Ardal-Geysir Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment at Geysir Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Geysir Cemetery in care of Glen Sigvaldason, Arborg, MB, R0C 0A0 or Geysir Community Club in care of Reggie Sigurdson, Box 1424 Arborg, MB R0C 0A0.
