| BIRDIE ELLA COLLINS October 6, 1916 - January 14, 2010 Peacefully on Thursday, January 14, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the age of 93. Predeceased by her husband Olafur in 1980 and son-in-law Joe in 1993. Leaves to mourn daughter Olla, son Charles (Faye), grand-daughters Carol (Ken), Susan, Candace (Jason), Kelly (Patrick), great-grandchildren Brennan, Jordan, Alia and Zoe. Birdie was born and raised in Winnipegosis where she was married in 1938. Later, she resided in Gimli and moved to Winnipeg in 1952. Birdie was a conscientious and extremely hard worker who worked in the produce industry for many years. She was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for many years and maintained a devout faith throughout her life. Birdie was an inspiration to others with her zest for life and positive outlook. Some of her many interests included crafts, knitting, gardening, baking and nature. Birdie's greatest pride was her children and grandchildren. She was caring and generous with her family and always proud of their accomplishments. A private family funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 20 at Glen Eden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 |
