ANITA LINCOLN (published on January 25, 2010)

ANITA LINCOLN Peacefully, on Friday, January 22, 2010, Anita passed away at the age of 72 years. Anita was predeceased by her beloved husband Keith in 1986. She is survived by her sons Brian, Doug and Gary (Julie) and by her grandchildren Kevin, Chelsey, Darren, Colby, Taitum and step-granddaughters Alvina and Alexa. Anita was born on September 4, 1937 in Fort William, Ontario and was raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. Anita and Keith started their family on the farm in Wawota, Saskatchewan and moved to Winnipeg in 1970. She moved to Lockport, Manitoba in 1987 after Keith's passing and resided there until present. Anita will always be remembered for putting other people's needs and feelings ahead of her own and her never ending generosity. She has a soft spot for all animals and was especially attached to her little dog Amy. Anita adopted two cats into her home, but had several frequent visitors that were always well fed and loved. Throughout the years, Anita was involved in numerous community activities and most recently cherished the time she spent volunteering at the Children's Hospital. Every little baby she cradled was treated as one of her own. She was also a long-standing member of the United Church and a former member of the Order of the Royal Purple. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Coronary Care Unit at the Health Sciences Centre for the care and compassion that they provided and to Auntie Mary-Anne for her support, during the darkest hours. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Selkirk United Church, 202 McLean Avenue, Selkirk MB, with a reception to follow. In keeping with Anita's wishes, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so, may donate to The Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, CE501-840 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg MB, R3A 1S1. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
