FILIPPUS BAARDMAN (published on January 30, 2010)

FILIPPUS BAARDMAN 1926 - 2010 Peacefully on January 26, 2010 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Filippus (Phil) Baardman passed away at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his first wife Gysberta and his sister Sygje. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Alyce, his children Joyce, Philip, John and Sandy (Susan Israel and children Rosalyn and Isaac), his brothers Sander, John, and Piet, his sister Aletta, and many nieces and nephews. Phil was born in Breda, The Netherlands. After serving with the Dutch military in Indonesia, he came to Winnipeg with his wife Bep in 1952. Here he raised four children, teaching them to love the outdoors. He sacrificed much to show them as much of the world as he could. He loved everything related to the water, nature, camping and canoeing and he shared this with his family and friends. He spent the majority of his career as a City of Winnipeg Health Inspector and was respected by his peers. His life was renewed when he married his second wife, Alyce, in 1987. He loved his family, and we will miss his dry sense of humour and his smile. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Ave. with a brief reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Phil to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral Home and Crematorium 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
