BERNADETTE COTTES (REECE) (published on January 28, 2010)

BERNADETTE COTTES (REECE) (nee KRYZANOWSKI) September 17, 1955 - January 24, 2010 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Bernadette on January 24, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bernadette was predeceased by her dad, Michael Kryzanowski. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Lawrence Cottes, her children, Sarah and Eric Reece; step-children, Jeffery (Andrea) Cottes; grand-children Ayla and Archer, Jason Cottes, Jennifer Cottes; mother Florence Kryzanowski; sister Elizabeth (Andy) Quatember; sisters-in-law, Joyce Hojlo, Stella Skocylas, Helen (Leonard) Hullick; brother-in-law Lloyd (Phyllis) Cottes. Bernadette grew up in Southdale and graduated from Windsor Park Collegiate in 1973. She completed her Education Degree in 1977 from the University of Manitoba and taught for several years at St. Emile School. Bernadette took a break from teaching to raise her children, Sarah and Eric. Once her children were in school her passion for teaching led her back to the classroom on a part-time basis. Bernie's great loves were cooking, walking, singing, old time dancing, playing cards and supporting her children in their respective activities. Bernie's home was a centre of friendship and hospitality. Friends and family loved her baking and sharing a cup of tea with her. Bernadette's faith was expressed in her involvement in her church as a choir director and active volunteer. Bernadette and her family wish to thank all of her care givers on the seventh floor at St. Boniface Hospital, her outpatient palliative care nurse Richard Kosar and friend Lucille Chay for all her support and guidance. Larry and Bernadette were surrounded by a wonderful support group throughout these past months. A Mass will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Anola, Manitoba followed by interment in Transcona Cemetery and a luncheon at Blessed Sacrament Parish Centre, 710 Roanoke in Transcona. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Our Lady of Hope Building Fund, Box 760, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0 or a charity of your choice. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO.
