Along side their father, left to mourn are Anne's children Dianne (Les) McAdam, Terry (Lisa), Michael (Linda), John (Shelley), Kathy (Chuck) Verwey, Andy (Shelley) and Donna (James) Merke. Also sadly missing her are her grandchildren: Jason, Jaime, Andy; Megan, Ryan, Kevin; Jordan, Tara, Elissa; Alanah, Andrew, Ashley; Lucas; Jasmine, Haley, and Cody, and her great-grandchildren: Bryce, Jenna; Ethan, Kate; Lyle, Lucy; Chaz, Arihana; Conor and Lief. Anne is also survived by sisters Mary (Bob) Sobiak, Irene (Cliff) Ross of Winnipeg and Vivian (Paul) Sedlbauer of Mississauga, ON, by her brothers Stan, Alex and Edward (Denise) Kalupar of Winnipeg, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and her Godchildren. Anne was predeceased by her parents Michael and Katie Kalupar, her father and mother-in-law Lucas and Katherine Swidnicki, her brothers Mike, Joe, Bill, Steve, Peter, Nick, Mac and Rudy and her sisters Jean Guzda and Shirley Schultz and her brothers-in-law John, Walter and Roman Swidnicki. Anne was born on October 4, 1934 in Pine Ridge, MB which is now the North Drive in Bird's Hill Park. She attended school in Pine Ridge as well as helping out on the farm where she lived with her parents and 17 siblings of which she was the 8th child. She shared many chores of gardening and kitchen duties. She later went to live and work in Winnipeg, never forgetting her parents and younger siblings still at home. Anne met Mike in Transcona, MB in 1953 and they were married three years later. They went on to settle in Portage la Prairie where they raised seven children. Mike and Anne were members of the Ukrainian Church of which Anne was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, involved in all activities of the church. Along with her husband Mike, Anne took great pride in everything they did, especially in their children and in later years their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Raising seven children could be challenging but Anne managed to keep everything in order and had everyone on time to where they had to be. She made everything seem so easy. In the midst of all this, still had time to run the family business which was started in 1977. Anne looked after the financial aspect of the business, helping Mike as much as she could by running for parts and doing the work orders. Anne enjoyed and loved preparing her traditional family dishes and wonderful baking for her family and friends whether it was for a family gathering or a festive occasion. Anne enjoyed her leisure time with a good game of cards and a relaxing cup of coffee with her special friend Drina to which they are now enjoying each other's company again. In Anne's later years her health tried to slow her down and for many years she defied it, still giving to family and friends and never complaining about it. The last two years were a struggle for Anne but with all the love she had given over the years no one forgot her, giving now to her in return. Her daughters Kathy and Donna were there especially for her during this time and she was always in the thoughts and prayers of all of her loved ones. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Catherine Newham-Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1A7. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses of Portage Regional Health and special thanks to Dr. Price for seeing Anne through her last years. Memories of Anne, her smile, ever loving heart and giving ways will be cherished always by her family. Mom's strong faith in her Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary were evident in every part of her life and she passed that faith and her values to her children. Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death, Amen A tribute DVD in memory of Anne will be produced by the Omega Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family c/o Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road South, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1T8 or friends may leave a message of sympathy on our web site Dedicated to those we serve .
