MICHAEL UCHACH (published on February 06, 2010)
MICHAEL UCHACH 1928 2010 After a lengthy illness, Michael fell asleep in the Lord at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba with family by his side at the age of 81 years. Remaining to forever cherish Michael's memory are his wife Jean; son Darrell; daughter-in-law Gwen; grandchildren Brittany and Ryan; son Craig; sister Mary Malenchak (Ted) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William (February 1957) and Pauline (December 1995). Mike grew up in Meleb, MB and attended high school in Teulon. He went on to get his teaching certificate in Winnipeg and taught grades 1 to 9 in the Meleb district. He furthered his education by taking the accounting program at Success Commercial College. One of Mike's first jobs after graduation was working for Stephen Juba who later became a long serving Mayor for the City of Winnipeg. In 1952 he joined Winnipeg Hydro where he retired as a Supervisor of Customer Accounts after 40 years of service. In 1954 Mike married his wife Jean and they spent 55 devoted years together. He very much enjoyed the company of both family and friends, especially his two grandchildren whom he deeply cherished. Mike enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, hunting and volunteered in a number of fish and game organizations. He followed sports closely and curled in the winter and golfed in the summer and was a big fan and supporter of the Winnipeg Blue Bomber football team. Mike also enjoyed music whether he was listening to it, dancing to it or playing it. It was not uncommon for him to pull out his accordion or his famous mouth organ and entertain family and friends. Laughing and enjoying the company of others was a big part of his life. A highlight in his personal accomplishments was being on the organizational committee for the MPC school reunion. Divine Liturgy will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Very Rev. Fr. Larry Kondra, C. Ss. R. presider. Interment will follow in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. A special thank you goes to Dr. Strang for his help and patience with Mike's illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael's memory to Deer Lodge Centre, Tower 3, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba or a charity of their choice. Vichnaya Pamyat everlasting memory |
