ANTONIOUS FRANCISCO BERNARD (published on February 06, 2010)

ANTONIOUS FRANCISCO BERNARD May 27, 1914 February 3, 2010 In loving memory of Antonious Bernard, 95 years, of 330 Van Horne Ave. and former longtime resident of Winnipeg, who died in the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, February 3. Tony's family celebrates the life of their father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Tony was born and raised in a small farmhouse north of Forward, Saskatchewan, eventually taking over the farm and marrying Ethel Doughty where they began to raise their family. He was injured in a farm accident and forced to move themselves to Regina in 1944 where he began his career with Air Canada in 1945. He was transferred to Calgary in 1948 and then to Winnipeg in 1955, where he retired in 1975. His wife of 68 years Ethel passed away in late 2006 and he moved to Dryden in 2008 to be close to family, living independently at 330 Van Horne Ave. until his death. He was predeceased by his daughter Donna Mavis (David) and is survived by his son Arnold (Marlene); six grandchildren, Brad (Patty), Shari (Scott), Heather, Nichol (Russ), Tony, Renee (Matt) and 15 great-grandchildren. At his request no service will be held. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Dryden Regional Health Centre for their concern and exceptional treatment. We also thank the residents of 330 Van Horne who kept a watchful eye on him for us and ensured he attend their group functions. Should friends desire donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be made through the Stevens Funeral Home, P.O. Box 412, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be emailed to Subject: Bernard.
