WANDA LYNNE THORVALDSON (published on February 06, 2010)



WANDA LYNNE THORVALDSON (nee BJORNSON) Peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Wanda passed away with family by her side on February 3, 2010, at the age of 64. Wanda will be dearly missed by her husband Magnus (Mike), her daughter Norma-Jean (Rod) and children Randy, Samantha, Rod Jr.; daughter Pierrette and children Jade (Sam), Tosh and Mateo; special friends Edwin and Gary; stepchildren Darrell (Janice), Tracy (Denys) and their children Dale, Paige, Josh, Tyler and Ashlynn. Wanda is also survived by her brothers Bradley (Darlene), Terry (Janet), Kim (Brenda), Brent (Mary-Ann), sisters Jackie (Dale), Paulette (Wayne) and Karla (Gary), brother-in-law Lyle, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Thor (Anna), Larry (Brenda), Elaine (David) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents William and Norma Bjornson, brother Delmore, sister Debbie, in-laws Albert and Emma Thorvaldson, and sister-in-law Deidre. Wanda was born on September 29, 1945, in Winnipeg, MB. She grew up in Piney, MB, the eldest of a large and loving family. She was a very hard working person spending the majority of her years in the healthcare field. Wanda married her childhood friend Mike settling in East Selkirk, MB where they surrounded themselves with many friends and good times. As a family, we are so grateful to Wanda's daughter Pierrette and her family for all the loving care and compassion given to Wanda during her illness. It was your Mom's wish to be in your care till the end. Sincere thanks to the nurses at Palliative Care, especially Wanda's favourite Ola, and Dr. Zoppa for their special care over the last two years. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
