IDA (EDITH) POETKER (published on February 16, 2010)

IDA (EDITH) POETKER (nee Dramnitzki) Peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2010, Edith passed away at the Grace Hospital. Edith was born near Yorkton, Saskatchewan on January 9, 1919. She grew up on a farm in the area with her parents and six siblings. She moved to Winnipeg where she married Henry in 1948, and they raised their two sons. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage during which time they owned an IGA store, which enabled them to travel, something they both loved. They spent many summers at their cottage at Grand Beach; favourite times included watching the sunsets with their family. Edith was predeceased by her siblings, husband Henry in 1990. She is survived by her son Barry (Linda), son Randy, and her two granddaughters Kristin and Stefanie, whom she adored. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital for their care of Gramma and compassion shown to our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, MB Branch, 1-452 Dovercourt, Winnipeg, MB, R3Y 1G4. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
