JAMES (JIM) MCCULLOUGH (published on February 16, 2010)

JAMES (JIM) MCCULLOUGH It is with great sadness that the family of Jim McCullough announces his passing on February 12, 2010 at Carman Memorial Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Georgina, son Pat (Lana) their children, Richelle and Tanner, Winnipeg, son Jack (Barb) their children, Neil and Stacie, Carman, and daughter Linn (Bay) Aosjia and their daughter, Shayden, Costa Rica. His siblings are Garth (Jean), Margaret (Ken) Last, and Bill. Jim was born February 4, 1932 to Harry (H.H.) and Amy McCullough. He grew up on the family farm NW of Carman in the St. Daniel District. In 1955 he moved to Winnipeg to work at the St. Boniface Union Stock Yards. On April 1, 1961, he married Georgina Last. Fulfilling his dream of owning his own business, he purchased the Carman Flower Shop in 1972, which he operated until 1983. In 1975, they moved back to the family farm where Jim grew up. There he raised Charolais cattle and Aracana chickens and spent hours keeping the yard neatly mowed. His favourite volunteer activities included working at the Carman Fair paying out prize money and visiting with the exhibitors and working at church fund raising events. In 1998 Jim and Georgina moved into Carman. They both enjoyed regular trips to the Legion for Crib tournaments. Jim enjoyed daily tours of the town always stopping for coffee with his buddies. Many family gatherings involved Jim taking on one of his children or grandchildren in a game of cribbage. His sense of humour and teasing will be missed by family and friends. The family wishes to thank Pastor Trudy Thorarinson and the congregation of Grace St. John's Church, all the staff at Carman Hospital for their many acts of kindness, extended family and friends for their thoughtfulness and support and Doyle's Funeral Chapel. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Grace St. John's Church, 80 2nd St., SW, Carman, MB. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Carman Hospital Palliative Care, Box 610, Carman, MB, R0G 0J0, or Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, R3C 2B7. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
