MINA LOEWEN (published on February 18, 2010)

MINA LOEWEN (nee HARDER) Surrounded by our love and prayers on Monday evening, February 15, 2010, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother left us to be with our dad in heaven. Mom was born on December 17, 1924 to Eduard and Josephine Harder in the town of Anental in the region of Fiodrawka, Russia. Mom had 11 siblings and that was the start of her lifelong devotion to the family unit. On September 14, 1948 mom and dad were married in Novasibirsk, Russia. They were blessed with six children whom they raised faithfully with love and patience. On January 14, 1967 our family of eight was allowed to leave Russia to settle and live in the freedom of the great country of Canada. Mom was predeceased by dad on September 23. 2007. Still thinking of you and miss you Paps. Now you and mom can go for walks together again. Mom is survived by her sons, Anatoli (Liliane) of Kanata, Ontario, Henry (Helen), Alex (Irma), Dietrich, Peter (Paulette) and daughter Rita (Bruce); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom had boundless energy and love for her children and later for their children also. Her love and devotion will live on in our memories. Proverbs 31:28: Her children rise up and call her blessed. Psalm 91:2: He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust. Funeral service will be held Friday, February 19, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. A private family burial will take place on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee. Our family would like to thank the staff of Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion.
