DOROTHY PROPHET MCILROY Dorothy McIlroy passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital on February 15, 2010 surrounded by her family. She will be dearly missed by Patrick Clarke, her daughters Kathy (Bill), Jeryl (Ken), her sons Daniel and Sean (Kelly), her granddaughters Anna and Cailyn, her grandsons Liam, William, Tanner and Kyle. She will also be deeply missed by her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in Brechin, ON. Dorothy was born in Brechin and remained very close to her family there. She moved to Toronto as a young woman where she met and married Jerry McIlroy. In 1963 they moved with their family to Winnipeg and settled in Charleswood. In addition to being a homemaker and raising four children Dorothy made many lasting friendships at part time jobs she held over the years. In 1975 she met her dear friend Patrick Clarke with whom she shared her remaining years. Dorothy enjoyed many happy times and friendships at the Charleswood Golf Club and the Charleswood Curling Club. She was a most enthusiastic football and curling fan. She and Pat traditionally spent Sunday afternoons watching events and cheering for their favourite teams. Her skills as a gardener, baker, knitter and seamstress have left her family with many treasures and happy memories. Dorothy was a much loved mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, courage, her generous nature and quiet strength. At Dorothy's request cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held. The family would like to express appreciation for the exceptional care she received from the staff on 3 North at the Grace Hospital, especially Dr. Kristen Campbell and nurses McKenzie, Holly, Jun, Nicole, Wanda, Angie and Sherry. She was cared for with kindness, compassion and dignity.
