LIZETTE ALPHONSIA COURCHENE (nee FONTAINE) August 23, 1928 - February 22, 2010 On February 22, 2010 our mother Lizette Alphonsia Courchene, at the age of 81 years, beloved wife of our father John Alfred Courchene passed into the spirit world. She leaves to celebrate and remember her life, her husband of 61 years, John A., children Judy, Shirley, Marlene (Robert), Sandy, Morris (Gail), Garry (Jean), Karen (Peter), Tanis, Jeff (Anita), and Karl (Crystal), niece Corrine Fontaine and special grandson Clinton Courchene whom she raised and considered her son, 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings Maurice Fontaine, Agnes Berthelette, Stanford Fontaine (Lillian), and Rose Guimond (Norbert), Aunts Dora Courchene, Freda Bear, Therese Swampy, Sandra Swampy, Uncles Jermaine Swampy, Ambrose Fontaine, Douglas Fontaine, and Norman Fontaine, sisters-in-law Freda McDonald, Lena Houston, Sylvia Guimond, and brother-in-law Marcel Courchene. She will be remembered for her kindness and willingness to help others. Our mother always taught us to care for others and always give our best in everything that we do. Her family was the main focus in her life. She made a loving home for her children and the many others whom she took in throughout the years. Her greatest joy was visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; each of whom holds their own special memory of their Grandma. She was a loving wife and life-partner to John A. and he will miss her greatly. Wake services will be held at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Parish, Sagkeeng, February 22 and February 23. Funeral will follow on Wednesday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jesse Courchene, Alan Greyeyes, Keegan Lafond, Cameron Courchene, Abe Courchene and great-grandson, Shadow Hope. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Pine Falls General Hospital, the George M. Guimond Care Home, all who came to pray to help Mom as she journeyed, Clem Courchene for the pipe ceremony and all who came to visit as Mom's health declined.
