EDWARD VINCENT BURCHAT (published on February 25, 2010)
EDWARD VINCENT BURCHAT After a brief illness with cancer, we are sad to announce the death of Edward V. Burchat on February 23, 2010. Ed was born in Wilno, Ontario on April 5, 1930 to the late Josephine and Peter Burchat. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann (Semkiw); his children John, Brian (Maxine), Elaine Campanaro (Roberto) and his grandchildren Ryan, Emma, Sarah, Isabel, as well as his brother Adolph and numerous nephews and nieces. Edward joined the RCAF in 1952 and retired in 1979. He continued to work at the CFB Winnipeg as a civilian until his final retirement in February 2000. Edward was a member of the Liberal Party and helped out during campaigns. He also collected for the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Kidney Foundation. In his retirement he enjoyed travel, curling, bridge, golf, gardening, cribbage, and riding his bike with family and friends. He played bridge at three clubs right up to the week he was hospitalized. His ideal travel adventures would be to travel back to Ontario and visit with his two brothers, and three sisters and numerous nephews and nieces. In his retirement he often visited John in Vancouver and Elaine and family in Atikokan - thanks in part to the RCAF and two major airlines. Mass will be held at Christ the King Chapel, 70 Dysart Road, (St. Paul's College at the U of M) on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Edward will make one last trip to Wilno and be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Cancer Society or Winnipeg Harvest. |
