JOYCE ROSE MURPHY (published on February 26, 2010)

JOYCE ROSE MURPHY April 4, 1937 - February 23, 2010 Suddenly, on February 23, 2010 at the Health Science Centre, Joyce Murphy passed away at the age of 72. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband, Chuck, daughter Carol (Kevin), sons Mike (Trish) and Shawn, grandchildren Aaron, John, and Abigail, the family pet Kato, as well as extended family. Joyce was born in Shoal Lake, MB and moved to Winnipeg as a young girl. After graduating from Tech Voc Collegiate, she worked with Searle Grain where she met Chuck and they married in 1964. The activities she enjoyed when she was younger were bowling and curling. After starting their family, they moved to Jenpeg, MB for six years while Chuck worked at the Jenpeg Generating Station. Joyce was devoted to her family and three children, giving her time and energy raising and nurturing them. Her family benefited from her love of sewing, her beautiful afghans, and needlework but especially from her delicious Ukrainian dishes. In her later years, Joyce took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. Despite not being in the best of health for the last few years, she was still active in her children's and grandchildren's lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. A viewing will be held at Klassen Funeral Home on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Holy Redeemer Parish, 264 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB.
