JOHN BIDOCHKA (published on March 04, 2010)

JOHN BIDOCHKA February 1, 1916 - March 2, 2010 Peacefully on March 2, 2010 at the Arborg and District Health Centre, John Bidochka passed away at the age of 94. John was predeceased by his parents Tekla and Peter Bidochka, sister Pearl and husband Mike Fedora, brother Tony, brothers-in-law Mike Lupky, John Barylski and Michael Maksymchuk, sister-in-law Julia Bidochka and nephew Rodney Chomokovski. John is survived by his siblings Jean Lupky, Katherine Barylski, Anna Maksymchuk, Mike, Metro, Nick and Olga (Walter) Chomokovski. Also by nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, neighbours and friends. Uncle John was born in Shorncliffe, MB and lived there for most of his life until his retirement from farming in 1978. He then moved to Arborg and remained in his home until six days before his death. Although Uncle John did not have much formal education, he was a jack of all trades in many jobs. From carpentry, building many homes and barns, to being a self taught mechanic, he could fix any machinery and loved to work on small engines. Many of us have lawn mowers that we were ready to throw away but Uncle John fixed them and they are still running to this day. Uncle John was a very kind and gentle man. He was a good neighbour and friend to many. He loved to go to Chicken Chef to see his many friends and his girls. Every morning you would see his truck parked as near to the door as possible. Uncle John remained quite independent until his death never asking for help unless it was impossible for him to do it himself. We would like to thank his neighbours Rob and Debbie for their help and kindness over the years. The family would also like to thank Dr. El, Dr. Beukes and all the staff at the Arborg and District Health Centre for their compassion and care. Prayers will be held on Sunday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Arborg MacKenzie Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Arborg MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Rev. Harry Chuckry will officiate. Interment will follow at Progress Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Shorncliffe, MB. Goodnight - sleep well, Uncle John. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
