JULIANA (JUDY) TRAPP (published on March 06, 2010)

JULIANA (JUDY) TRAPP It is with sadness that I announce the peaceful passing of my mother, Juliana (Judy) Trapp (nee Freund), age 92 years, on March 3, 2010 at the River East PCH in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Archie (Arthur A. Trapp) in August 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Lyla McLean (Eric Okolita); grandchildren, Daniel McLean, Crystal Okolita (Mike Walker) and Shane Okolita; great-grandchildren, Anika and Grace Walker. Mom was the last surviving member of her family. Predeceased by her parents, Karoline (Biedler) and Fredrich Freund, and siblings, Carl, Nellie Fiebelkorn (William), Emma, Gus (Olga), Emily Weidman (Fred), Roy (Elsie), Pauline Meseman (Bill), Lilly Schmitke (August), and William (Helen). Born in Friedensfeld, MB on December 7, 1917, she moved to the Brokenhead, MB area as a young girl, where she met and married the love of her life, Archie in 1941. Mom was devoted to her family and was Dad's greatest support whether it was on the farm in Brokenhead, in the timber industry in Eastern MB, or in local and provincial politics. Because of Dad's work with Indian Affairs she resided in many communities, Pukatawagan, Thompson, Grand Rapids, The Pas and finally in retirement, Selkirk. Following a stroke in 1999, Mom resided at Betel Home PCH in Selkirk for eight years and then moved to the River East PCH (Winnipeg) in October 2009. Special thanks to the staff who provided Mom and myself with compassion, support and a loving environment in these last weeks, and to Eileen Jones for being a companion to Mom while at Betel Home. Funeral Services will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 6088 Hwy. 9A (south of the Rolling Mill) Selkirk, MB on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Mom's memory to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
