MARIA (MARY) LOZOWY (published on March 06, 2010)

MARIA (MARY) LOZOWY Mary passed into the fold of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 27, 2010 just two days after her 90th birthday. She was born at the family homestead in Stuartburn, Manitoba on February 25, 1920. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Mitch of Thunder Bay and Bill of Toronto. She is survived by, and will be lovingly remembered by her nephew Robert Lozowy of Nanaimo and nieces, Jeannie Poulsen of Toronto, Cheryle Dingwell and Debbie Fucile of Thunder Bay. At Mary's request, there will not be a service at this time. A private service will be held at the time of her interment in the family plot at Roseau River Cemetery. Mary was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage and as a child learned the values of hard work, thrift and Christian charity. She also developed a passion for beautiful antiques - a passion which she pursued all of her life, often working two jobs to enable the purchase of the treasures she so loved. For the last thirty years, Mary lived at the Arms of the Cross, where she made many lasting friendships. She wanted to thank Dr. Marnie Waters and the staff at Health Action Centre for the exceptional care she received from them. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff on the 4th floor at Poseidon Care Centre for the kindness and respect shown to Mary in the last year of her life and to sincerely thank Carl Johnson for his friendship, care and support. Mary's spiritual home was Calvary Temple and she greatly appreciated their visits when she was in the hospital and nursing home. Although she wouldn't want it known, she, in her quiet way, supported many good causes throughout her life, including Children's Hospital, SMD, the Salvation Army, Canadian Mental Health, etc. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to any of the causes which were so important to Mary.
