JEAN FRANCES BRANSON (LECKIE) 1922 2010 A loving and respected mother, grandmother and sister passed away on February 26, 2010 in Calgary. Jean was born in Winnipeg to James and Fanny Leckie and grew up in Regina, Foxwarren, and Virden. She attended Normal School in Winnipeg and went on to teach in a variety of prairie schools including Verity, Bissett, Gladstone, Churchill, Seven Oaks and Victory. She was a born teacher who cared greatly about her students during her years as an educator. It was in Bissett that she met her husband Art Branson. Married for 48 years, they raised their family in Gladstone, Winnipeg and Fort Churchill. Music and church held central places in her life. She sang in many church choirs, accompanied the Gladstone Male Voice Choir, was organist at Grey Street United and choir director of Immanuel United Church choir. She instilled her love of music in her many piano students. Jean was a natural athlete who enjoyed skating, baseball, bowling and badminton and was an ardent bridge player. She was predeceased by husband Art and sisters Helen and Margaret. She leaves sisters Joyce and Mary Jane, brother Jim; children, Merle (John), Heather, Jim (Debra), Beth (Ramon) and Moira (Ken), 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren to cherish the memory of her forward-looking spirit, sweet nature and lovely sense of humour. Thanks to the staff of Evergreen Masterpiece Living and Rockyview Hospital for their care. A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, April 10, 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church, Golspie and Kimberly.
