VISUTHI RASMIDATTA (published on March 06, 2010)

DR. VISUTHI RASMIDATTA February 17, 1937 to February 26, 2010 Peacefully on February 26, 2010, Visuthi Rasmidatta passed away at the age of 73. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years Muriel (nee McNeill); his son Tanasut, daughter in-law Karen and their children Sarai, Chaya and Praiya; his daughter Piyabutr, son in-law Dean, and their children Olivia and Claire. Visuthi is also survived by his brothers, Dr. Kris Rasmidatta and Dr. Sukhum Rasmidatta, of Bangkok, Thailand. Visuthi was born in Bangkok, Thailand. He attended prep school at Lindisfarne College in Wales, then graduated with a B.A. and received his medical degree from Trinity College Dublin in 1964. After taking his first posting as a medical practitioner in Northern Ireland, Visuthi and his family settled in Portage la Prairie in 1970, where he was a dedicated family physician for over 20 years. Ras, as he was known to his friends and colleagues, was a very gentle and kind man. He loved to laugh, travel and spend time with his family. He was a competitive sportsman, always ready for a round of golf with his friends, a tennis match, or more recently a game of chess. Ras always looked for the best in others and gave the best he had. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Douglas Hobson and the staff at the Movement Disorder Clinic, Deer Lodge Centre for over 20 years of care and for helping Ras live so valiantly with Parkinson's Disease. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to
