| VELMA BENTSON (nee HIATT) Velma died peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on March 3, 2010. She was predeceased by her parents George and Mary Hiatt, sister Geraldine Nelson and son Wayne Bentson. She leaves to mourn her children Grant, Ken, Gail, Ron (Shuzelle) and Wayne's wife Beverly; her five grandchildren David, Christopher, Dylan, Cailean and Nathan; her siblings Patricia, George (Joyce), Alfred (Lorrie) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Drumheller, Alberta, on September 26, 1926. She spent most of her childhood in Drumheller, then moved to Calgary and The Pas, Mb. After high school she lived with her sister Patricia in Edmonton while attending McTavish Business College. In 1949 she married Stanley Bentson, moved to Wetaskiwin, Alberta, and raised her family. She moved to Winnipeg in the mid 70's with her two youngest children and worked at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital in the purchasing department. Once her children were grown she worked while travelling until retiring in Winnipeg. The family wishes to thank the staff at Lions Manor for their care during the last years of her life. Funeral services to be held March 10, 2010, at 12:30 p.m., with viewing one hour prior to service at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
