NEIL WILLIAM MURPHY (published on March 06, 2010)

NEIL WILLIAM MURPHY After a courageous battle with lung cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Murphy on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at Riverview Health Center at the age of 71. Neil was born in Spy Hill, SK, then moved to Manitoba and resided in Eriksdale for many years. He later came to Winnipeg where he continued to work at his own business, Murphy's Cartage , for a number of years. He then sold his business and started working for Pete at North Main Trucking until May 2009 when he became ill. Neil loved to spend his time outdoors whether it was tinkering in the garden picking his cucumbers and tomatoes or hunting and a weekend of fishing. He especially enjoyed going to the lake with his wife Theresa to get away and relax. Neil was a caring, loving man who, throughout his life, shared his values with everyone. Neil battled cancer in 2005 and showed his strength and determination by continuing to work through his treatment. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Theresa; stepdaughters Shelley (Terry) and Kathy (Graham) from Abbotsford; his three daughters, Denise (Andy), Lisa (Patrick) and Monica (Steve); six grandchildren; his aunty Audrey; cousin Allan (Susan) Les from Lundar, MB; as well as many nieces and nephews. Neil also had a strong bond with his buddies Ron and Jack for many years. Kathy and Gerald were very close to him as well. Not to mention his newest and most recent best friend he leaves behind, Yukon, who he took on the truck with him every day to work. Neil was predeceased by his father William in 1998 and mom Eva in 2005. Neil, you were one of a kind and will be missed a lot. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 13, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. A small luncheon will be served. Also, there will be a tribute to Neil after the Service.
