DMYTRO (DAN) ILUK (published on March 10, 2010)

DMYTRO (DAN) ILUK July 26, 1921 - March 8, 2010 After a lengthy illness, on Monday, March 8, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital, Dan Iluk, beloved husband of Lydia. Born in Triyza, Ukraine, Dan married Lydia Segert in 1949 in Germany. They immigrated to Canada (Minnetonas, MB) in 1949, thanks to sponsors Anne and Ed Lousman, and in 1950 they moved to Winnipeg where they raised their two children, George and Anne. Dan was a dedicated and hard worker, enjoying his many years working at Anthes Foundry (now Ancast), where he made many close friends. When not at work, he enjoyed spending time with his family, relatives and friends, dancing, singing and celebrating his homeland memories. He also took great pride in maintaining his home. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and faith and attended Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church regularly. Dan was an understanding and compassionate husband, father and grandfather. He had a kind and gentle soul and will be missed dearly. Left to cherish Dan's memory are his special and loving wife, Lydia with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just last year; son, George (Tracy) Iluk; daughter, Anne (Allan) Finkel; grandchildren, Lauren, Evan and Jordan; sister, Mary (Alex) Waskiw of Sun City, AZ. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Myron. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 12 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. with Fr. M. Gnutel officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local charity of one's choice. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
