ARTHUR GORDON (published on March 10, 2010)

ARTHUR GORDON It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father Arthur Gordon on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Grace Hospital. Dad will be sadly missed by his six children: Vernon, Sharon, Bonnie (Bill), Jo-Ann, Ivan (Heather) and Patrick (Debbie) as well as his 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brother Harry Breed (Beryl) and sister Margaret Carson. He was predeceased by his beloved sisters Eileen Chartier, Dorothy Carson and brother Marshall Johnson. Dad was born in Birtle, MB on June 7, 1929 to Gladys Gordon. He spent his early years working on farms which led him to Hambly Hatcheries in Swan Lake, MB where he became involved with Alfalfa dehydrating. This was to be his life career . In 1964 he moved his family to Winnipeg to work at Alfalfa Products until his retirement in 1994. During his lifetime Dad had become very involved with the Church of Latter Day Saints and loved being a home teacher. His later years were spent at Lion's Manor in Supportive Housing for Alzheimers. He made many friends and was a big hit at all the dances due to his love of dancing. He loved chatting with special friends such as Lyla and Yvon Dumont and staff Nina and Shelly. Shortly before his illness, care attendant Ross became a valued friend and support. Art's family would like to thank Lion's Manor staff for their support and the Grace Hospital staff who were so kind and caring to Dad following his hospitalization. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Lion's Manor - Harvey Hall, 320 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg. A private family interment will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winnipeg Humane Society or D'Arcy's Arc. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
