DOROTHY KATHLEEN KOLBA (published on March 10, 2010)

DOROTHY KATHLEEN KOLBA (HAGGART) (nee LOWE) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy on March 8, 2010. Dorothy was predeceased by Hugh Haggart and Peter Kolba, her parents Harold and Kathleen Lowe and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Rene Letain. Dorothy leaves behind children Bruce (Cathy), Margaret (Ed), grandchildren Adam, Trevor (Dawna), Brendan (Tanis), Jeremy (Kyla), Jaime (Tyler) and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Brady, Sydney, Ava, Paytyn and Rylan. Dorothy was born on October 4, 1926 and raised in Winnipeg. Dorothy started her career as an office manager/secretary at Veteran Affairs and ended her working career at Keewatin Electric. Dorothy met Hugh Haggart and they were married on June 28, 1947. They spent 37 happily married years together. Dorothy and Hugh enjoyed travelling with their best friends John and Rene. Dorothy and Hugh enjoyed their Saturday's at the legion, summer weekends at the lake at their family cottage in Winnipeg Beach. They also enjoyed curling on Saturday evenings. Dorothy and Rene never missed a Saturday shopping trip, hunting for bargains at the mall. Dorothy lost the love of her life, Hugh, on July 18, 1984. After Hugh's passing, Dorothy found a second chance at happiness when she met Peter Kolba. Dorothy and Peter were married October 11, 1986 and were married for 16 years. In marrying Peter, Dorothy adopted an extended family. Most dear to her heart were Tom, Joanne and Hayley with whom she shared a special relationship. She had affection for all and their door was always open for family. Dorothy and Peter enjoyed bowling, travelling and spending weekends at their trailer at Gull Lake. Dorothy was a kind and caring individual who truly loved everyone. She will be dearly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have made the acquaintance of this lovely woman. A heart felt thanks goes to the loving and caring staff at Lions Manor for their care and compassion of Dorothy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6 or the Alzheimer's Society, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Fly with the Angels mom. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
